While Dezmen Southward wasn’t one of the hottest names in draft talk leading up to the annual selection meeting, the Wisconsin safety and Falcons’ third-round pick receives a strong endorsement from NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling.
Naming the top 10 plug-and-play starters from the NFL Draft’s second day, Wessling names Southward one of his possible impact players selected Friday:
“Atlanta never adequately replaced discarded free safety Thomas DeCoud. An intriguing prospect who blazed a 4.38 40-yard dash and posted a 42-inch vertical leap during Wisconsin’s pro day, Southward adds much-needed size and athleticism to Mike Nolan’s secondary.”
